Please note, we are still taking enquiries about volunteering for Home-Start Leeds in readiness for when the current lockdown period is relaxed, when it is predicted that there will be an even greater demand for support to parents/carers support from Home-Start volunteer.
It is with great regret that, following government and HSUK advice to minimise social contact, we have taken the decision to postpone our home-visiting support at this time.
Instead staff and some volunteers will be offering telephone, email support to families.
Volunteers will continue to receive support from co-ordinators over the telephone, by email or text.
Coronavirus will place the greatest strain on families who are already vulnerable, including those already isolated, facing financial hardship and mental health challenges.
Home-Start Leeds have secured the IIV for another 3 years (Oct 2019 - Oct 2022). We would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that was involved and a big special thank you to our volunteers who came in and spoke with the assessor.
Here are some quotes from some of our volunteers and their experiences with volunteering with Home-Start;
"I changed careers through volunteering with home-Start Leeds, did an NVQ, got great experience and now I'm a Mental Health Nurse; Volunteering is such a contrast with my work"
